Falling on the first day of Chaitra, the first month in the Hindu lunar calendar, Ugadi ushers the spring season, symbolizing new beginnings and fresh starts in India.

Families begin the celebration with ritualistic showers, followed by prayers, and the decoration of their homes with fresh mango leaves and colourful rangolis. The highlight of Ugadi is the preparation of the 'Ugadi Pachadi,' a special dish that blends six flavours - sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent.
